It’s the most wonderful time.
The trees are beautiful tones of amber & the temperature is that glorious level where only light layers are required.
I am reaching for lace, leather, fringing & suede in all of its delightfulness: let’s get into it.

Nothing quite gets me at this time of year quite like a long, oversized leather trench. IYKYK: this major Saint Laurent number was my best [EVER] score at Bicester Village last year. I don’t tend to use the word ‘investment’ when it comes to clothing, however – admittedly a leather coat [or jacket] is an item I feel could make a worthwhile use of the word.
This is where a spurge spend can make a real difference, due to the quality, fabric, cut & craftsmanship that goes into this particular item when more is spent. An item you will reach for time & time again: just make sure the cut is one you adore & you feel mega in it.
‘INVESTMENT’ LEATHER COATS & JACKETS:

Fringing. When in doubt, do as Dolly Parton would do. Fringing can add that extra detail of texture & interest to an outfit. As someone that has a real love of Western inspired items & outfits, it can also be a true more-is-more addition, if you choose to make it so. This suede-studded number worn above is actually a collar-cape situation, making it as easy addition to outfits & super versatile.
FRINGING:

Coming back to the ‘more is more’ comment – I am always one that will add any number of accessories. Whether it’s a hat, bag charms, necklace layering, knee high socks over tights – I believe strongly in the power of accessories. To each their own, but imo – if you love it, add it. I don’t subscribe to the Coco Chanel idealism of ‘removing’ items before leaving the house.
ACCESSORIES:
Suede is a fabric I have fallen heavily for this year. Despite it being a tricky sensitive beast, it looks mighty fine in the autumn light. I purchased a Rick Owens mini skirt in a beautiful suede hue that I wore whilst in Paris that really feels like the perfect number this time of year.
I’ve added a selection of serrrrrious suede favourites below.
SUEDE:
