TRIED+TESTED: R13 JUMP BOOTS

As someone that believes firmly in cost per wear and having daily, highly-loved core items, I thought of adding a new series to the blog: ‘TRIED+TESTED’. A series to focus on specific pieces I have purchased and worn countless times, that I believe are really worth the spend.

Granted, this is my personal experience & I appreciate someone else that has purchased the same item may not have had the same experience – think of this sentence as a disclaimer, so to speak.

There was truly only one item I could start this series on:

the R13 Jump Boots.

I first purchased the ankle version of these boots in 2020.

They were a mega spend for me at the time and one I did not take lightly. I had lusted after them for a hell of a long time, knowing at some point I would go for it. I had them in my cart countless times, not hitting the ‘buy now’. There was very little information on them online, and I knew it would be a tricky process going through returns – so I needed to be S-O-L-I-D.

A little background to the brand if they are new for you:

R13 is an independent based out of New York. Founded by Chris Leba in 2009, they are known for their grunge aesthetic: leathers, denim, distressing play key roles in their clothing & accessories. Where they excel and stand apart imo is in the cuts of their garments. There is an authenticity to their products that, although incredibly highly priced, isn’t like anything I have found at other brands.

The Jump Boots are undoubtedly one of my best purchases of all time.

This year I finally caved and bought the longer black medium version, and these have become my daily go-to shoe. I love them with shorts, mini-skirts, dresses, knee-high socks: anything & everything.

Crafted in Italy from black leather, they are a lace-up combat-style boot with a thick stacked sole.

With a side zip, two poppers and detailed stitching, they are not like any other boot I have owned – their comfort is another level. I will not wear uncomfortable UNLESS I am leaving a car & heading into a venue where I only need to take 15 steps. I absolutely love walking [but I also love platforms] I always ideally want to know I can wear a shoe that I can crack on & do 10,000 steps in – even if I don’t need to.

The quality & craftsmanship is exactly where it needs to be for this price point.

For me the medium required no breaking in [I actually recall doing 13,000 steps in them on my first day in L.A wearing them]. If they are one on your wish-list, and they are within your means, I cannot recommend them enough. Oh – and good news, if you sign up to the R13 newsletter [located at the bottom of the page I just linked] you may get a discount code for your first purchase.

SHOP THE BOOTS:

Want to know anything in particular about the boots? Leave a comment on this post & I’ll get back to ya.

@r13 – if you ever wanna collab on a higher platform version, I will clear my schedule

Hi, Sammi!
I think these boots are gorgeous, very versatile, and if they’re also comfortable, they’re perfect. I have very similar pairs and I usually include them in most of my outfits, which are basically inspired by yours.
Hugs from Barcelona!

I have loved these since I first saw them, and that ‘pop’ is so very pleasing. I was, though, unsure on break-in times, having long been a DM’s girlie and they HURT (iykyk). Thank you for the confirmation that the break in time is minimal, that was a big question and potential drawback. So; off to R13 with a code in hand I go! Thanks for the push!

i’ve also added them to cart a few times but too scared to commit as unsure what fit and width is like as i have stupid feet. i’ve also struggled to find much online info/chat about this. any insight you can share would be much appreciated!

I’ve been in love with these boots ever since seeing them on you – that’s why I instantly recognized them when I saw a photo of Lady Gaga wearing them recently.
Would so love to own a pair but unfortunately really out of my price-range. Maybe one day!
