The Revival may not need an introduction for many, but for those that don’t know about this immense vintage-inspired race weekend, a little background information:
The Goodwood Estate in Chicester has a historic racetrack that ran from 1948-1966 [closing August 1966] & then re-opened in 1998. There is much detail to appreciate of the track itself, so I will leave that snippet of info there & for those interested in delving further: happy reading.
Once a year The Goodwood Revival takes place across a three day long weekend, celebrating the 40’s – 60’s, when the Goodwood racetrack was first running. The event centres around motor racing, with incredibly prestigious cars [& drivers] racing. The entire event thoroughly encourages vintage or vintage inspired dress for attendees, with a huge ‘village’ area at the event dedicated to style & fashion. There’s a carnival/fair, ability to access paddocks to see the cars up close, & numerous stalls from niche car-related brands to vintage-inspired lingerie.
It’s a chance to wear your absolute best vintage pieces or create a vintage inspired look & immerse yourself in these bygone eras.
We have attended the Revival as a family for the last five years.
As lovers of vintage from cars to fashion [fun fact: when Anton & I first met I was exclusively wearing 1940’s vintage & did so for a number of years] this weekend is a so hugely enjoyed by us all. I was honoured when the office of the Duke of Richmond reached out with an invite to host us this year – this has not happened before & as someone that hears a hell of a lot ‘no’ from brands, events {etc} primarily due to my look & appearance, this is not an invite that we took lightly.
Originally we had planned to attend just the Saturday, but having had such a blast [and with the opportunity to] we ended up popping along for a few hours on Sunday, too.
Highlights of the weekend included being asked last minute to present a trophy at the end of a race [!!] dancing with Anton on the runway & being voted Second Best Dressed, the RAC TT race [the grand finale race on Sunday] & seeing my forever fav 1964 snake-eyes AC Cobra.
The dedication to showcasing the love these eras of time alongside the absolutely immaculate way in which the entire Goodwood team & estate runs the Revival [as a lover of punctuality, it has to be said I have never known anything to run so on time] it’s a true weekend of passion, joy & appreciation.
