Every.single.time I am invited to a premiere, it feels like a huge deal.
It was only two years ago I attended my first ever premiere (Barbie) upon which I truly set my own internal precedent for dressing & styling myself for premieres. It possibly goes without saying that I take a theme very, very seriously and spend as much time & energy as possible achieving the best look (I feel) I can, with the constraints of a two week notice and my own budget & resources.
Being a big F1 fan, I was desperately manifesting receiving an invite to this premiere & was thrilled when it came in directly from Warner. I got to work on my outfit by first drawing a (terrible) sketch of the silhouette I wanted to achieve (see below, and pls attempt not to chuckle)

After this 2 second doodle, I noted down next to it items I already own that I thought I could use for the look, alongside places/items I thought I could start looking into. I also noted that I specifically wanted the colours used to be red, white and black – with some silver highlights. Sometimes I really have a narrow focus in colours, and other times – well, it’s a free for all.
It has to be said, if I had no budget AT ALL, I would certainly have reached out to Zana Bayne for a full custom leather piece – and finished off the look with a vintage sourced Chrome Hearts JJ Dean bag in black…but ya know, I do my upmost.

The leather moto jacket I fortunately already owned, and had been potentially saving for a race/car day event day. It hit the absolute nail on the head for me both theme & colour wise, so I started to base the look around this. Leather elements felt important to me to incorporate, and I found an Alessandra Rich bustier in leather with a buckle detail that felt very me. Although I want to hit a theme well, it’s also important to me the look still feels like something I am excited to & would wear.
It felt like a true match was made when I then stumbled across this Sid Neigum skirt – with a high slit and buckle detail, I hoped it would be a win paired with the bustier. Also – quite pleasing to discover a new independent brand.

The Vetements x New Rocks: well well well. What a delight to wear New Rocks on the red carpet – never could I have foreseen this in my teenage years. If you were at all in the realm of alternative in the 80’s-90’s, I don’t doubt you will have known about New Rock. I’ve noticed they are having quite a resurgence – and not just in the alternative world – and I feel rather stoked for them. It has to be noted, these particular collaboration boots weigh a ridiculous amount – I genuinely felt I had been doing a leg work out by the time I got home. I do wish they weren’t so heavy, so they could become part of my day-to-day boot rotation.

many thanks to Warner Bros. UK for the invite

First of all, the sketch 🥹🥹
Second, the boots were an absolute serve! I have a pair of new rocks that I’ve had since I was 17 (I’m now 39) and they have the holes in the bottom like these with springs inside them.
Seeing you rock them (no pun intended) on a red carpet was such a moment.
Our 17 year old selves would be so proud ❤️❤️
